BFS: Scanning-multibeam Sonar

The BFS is an advanced, high frequency scanning-multibeam sonar.  Employing state of the art signal processing, the BFS can produce an image updated up to 6 times per second on the short range settings.  With high speed Ethernet communications, a 1.1 MHz beam frequency and 10mm range resolution, the BFS provides nearly video quality imagery.

881L-GS Imaging: Scanning Sonar

The Model 881L-GS sonar, which employs a low drift gyroscope as well as a magnetic compass, is capable of correcting for orientation changes at a rate in excess of 500 degrees per second, which allows it to compensate for sudden turns and inadvertent bumping or jarring.  Therefore, scan lines are displayed without blurring, compression, or smearing effects in all modes of operation, be it polar, sector or North-up.

881A / 881L Profiling: Scanning Sonar

The Model 881A Profiling Sonar Head is a programmable, multi-frequency, digital scanning sonar that you can operate using default settings or customize the configurations for your own situation.  High performance, lower cost, low power and simple set-up and installation, make this sonar perfect for all profiling applications.

881A / 881L Imaging: Scanning Sonar

Now with Multi-frequency Sonar, operators can generate highly detailed full-scale images with just one unit.  The 881A is a programmable multi-frequency digital imaging sonar that you can operate using default frequency settings or customize the configurations for your own situation.  High performance, lower cost, low power and simple set-up and installation, make this sonar perfect for the largest ROV’s to the smallest inspection ROV’s, plus AUV or UUV applications.

852 Ultra Miniature: Scanning Sonar

The Model 852 Digital Imaging Sonar was designed for use with the smallest of ROV’s.  For maximum flexibility, this is a design with a fluid filled front end and a pressure housing for the electronics.  The unit requires approximately 2.5 Watts from 24 VDC, or optional 48 VDC.  Serial communication is utilized, RS-485 or RS-232 at 115.2 kbps.  This unit will scan a maximum of 360o with a maximum range of 50 meters.  The total weight in water is less than 0.2 kg (0.4 lbs).

Accessories:

Scanning Sonar Tripod:
Scanning Sonar Option

The tripod houses the 881A scanning sonar as well as the Heading Pitch and Roll (HPR) sensor. Both the power and data transmission for these two devices use a single umbilical to the topside console. The Tripod with 881A Scanning Sonar and HPR module are fully supported hardware accessories in DiveLog. An important asset for surveying, site monitoring and situational awareness.

881A Azimuth Drive:
Rotary Actuator Drive

The Model 881A Azimuth Drive is a rugged and powerful rotary actuator drive that can be coupled to an Model 881A Profiling Sonar. The two axes of rotation in this combined unit provide the capability to obtain accurate, high resolution range information in any direction. In standard applications, profiles may be made in any direction by simply commanding the Azimuth Drive to rotate the attached profiling sonar anywhere in a circle. The profiling sonar can then perform a cross-sectional scan before being rotated to a new azimuth angle. The Azimuth Drive uses the same RS-485 serial communications line and command structure as the profiling head. A single, simple to use PC compatible computer program operates both, and full communications protocol specifications are provided for designing customized software.
